ANA MARIA CANSECO
Since 1997, millions of Hispanic viewers across the United States began their days with Emmy Award winner Ana Maria Canseco as she hosted Telemundo’s “Un Nuevo Dia” and prior to that, Univision’s network show “Despierta America”. As co-host of the daily morning shows, she became a household name to Hispanic families everywhere.
Within that time period, she appeared as a guest host on other popular shows like “El Gordo y La Flaca”, “Don Francisco Presenta” and “Sabado Gigante,” among others. On four separate occasions she hosted the telecast of the traditional “Rose Parade”, earning her three consecutive Emmy awards in the category of Best Live Show. Ana Maria was chosen by President George W. Bush to be the Master of Ceremonies for the first “Cinco de Mayo” celebration at the White House, a historic event in the U.S and, without a doubt, an unforgettable experience for her.
Born in Mexico City, Ana Maria showed an early interest in television. When she was five years old, her grandmother entered her into a television competition searching to cast the protagonist of a telenovela. She was among hundreds of children who competed for the opportunity. As a finalist, she made her television debut in the telenovela “Mundo de Juguete”. Since then, she appeared in countless commercials and television series.
Like many immigrant families, the Canseco family moved to San Antonio, Texas, and, after much persistence, Ana Maria began her career at a local radio station. She was later invited to become a member of the first news team on Univision 45 in Houston, Texas almost, 25 years ago.
Thanks to her credibility and special bond with audiences, Ana Maria was selected by Payless Shoes to be their spokesperson in Hispanic media and was also featured in the world famous “Got Milk” campaign.
Today, Ana connects with audiences on her daily syndicated radio show “Echate Pa’Ca” covering all of the current topics affecting the lives of her fellow latinos. The show delivers music, humor, laughter, and interviews in a way that only Ana María Canseco can.
